3 quick PR tips for busy people

There is no shortage of things we ‘should’ be doing to raise our visibility, boost our business and grow our success. But you’re busy. And overwhelmed. And probably unsure of where to start.

So in the spirit of small wins, I’m sharing three of my favourite tips. They’re tried and tested, and they always get a great reaction when I share them.

And I promise, they’re also simple enough you could definitely do at least one of them today.

Here are three quick wins to boost your visibility right now:

1. Create a Spotify playlist of your podcast appearances

Been a guest on someone else’s podcast? Amazing. Now, let’s make that work harder for you.

If you’re a Spotify user, take five minutes to create a playlist titled something like “[Your Name] – Podcast Appearances”. Add in every episode you’ve featured on, even if it’s just a handful to start with.

Why this works:

  • You’ve got an instant, shareable link to showcase your thought leadership.

  • It’s perfect for your media kit, LinkedIn, email signature, or bio.

  • When pitching to new podcast hosts, it’s a great way to say: “Here’s an example of what I’m like as a podcast guest.”

It’s also a brilliant visual cue that you’re someone who shows up and shares generously, which goes a long way when building credibility.

2. Set up Google alerts like a PR pro

This one’s easy and free, and it will keep you in the loop on all the conversations happening in your world.

Set up Google Alerts for:

  • Your name

  • Your business name

  • Your industry or area of expertise

  • Even your competitors

This is a great way to stay informed, but also to spot opportunities. Maybe a journalist has covered a topic you could comment on. Maybe there’s new research that supports what you’ve been saying all along. Now you’ll know about it, without having to scroll for hours.

It also helps you build that all-important bank of expertise: a little goldmine of research, articles, and quotes you can draw on for articles, podcast appearances, and social posts.

3. Start a research bank (your future self will thank you)

Speaking of that expertise bank… if you don’t already have a digital folder or doc where you’re saving articles, studies, and stats that back up your ideas, then now’s the time to start one.

Whether it’s a Google Drive folder, a Trello board or even a spreadsheet, start saving:

  • Research reports relevant to your niche

  • Key statistics you love referencing

  • Quotes or insights from other experts you align with

  • Articles that sparked your interest (or outrage!)

Trust me: the next time you need to write an article, prep for an interview, or pull together a pitch, you’ll be so grateful you’ve got it all in one place.

Simple makes sense

OK so these tips aren’t rocket science, but they’re about working smarter, not harder. And they’re all grounded in the belief that visibility doesn’t have to mean shouting the loudest or doing all the things. It’s about showing up intentionally, consistently, and in a way that feels good for you.

Give one (or all three!) of these tips a go this week.

And if you do, I’d love to hear how you go. Pop into my DMs on LinkedIn or contact me on here.
